Palsaik Samgyeopsal Preparation

You can check out the videos below on how they prepared/grilled the meats. It's our first time to eat in this kind of resto and we don't know what to do that time, so the restaurant crews helped us to grill it. Even it's just a 2 short clips, have a drool with it! :D

A very DELIGHTFUL dinner experience at Palsaik Samgyeopsal of 8 Kind Tastes

After our whole day shopping at Myeongdong and Nandaemun, we decided to have our dinner just around Seoul. That day, we crave for meat. We searched on the net for their best restaurants that serves meat and we came across to a site which talked about the famous Palsaik Samgyeopsal of 8 Kind Tastes. We immediately searched the address and luckily it's just around Seoul. The complete address is: 121-100 Mihwa Building B1F, 18 Baekbeom-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. We're at Myeongdong that time and the next thing we searched is how we will get in Mapo-gu. Since we're just transferring from place to place thru their subway, we searched for the best and easiest route.

We rode the subway from Myeongdong station (Line 4) and stop at Ddm-S station (2 station stops only). From there we transferred to Line 2 and rode to Sinchon station. Overall, there are 8 stations from Ddm-S to Sinchon. Sinchon station is the nearest station in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

After exiting at Sinchon station, we immediately search for the restaurant. We easily found it because it's just around the main road beside a KIA Motors branch.
(KIA Motors at the bottom left. Palsaik Samgyeopsal is just beside it, on the right)
Upon entering to the main entrance, you have to go downstairs to reach their main dining area.

Here is a part of their menu. We decided to order PALSAIK 400g Meal. The group meal at the bottom in the picture below. As per the waiter, each serving is good for 2-3 persons. Since we're 6 in the group we ordered 2 servings. So that's a total of 54,000 won (around 2,500 in Philippine peso). It's a bit pricey for us but for them - it's just within their budget. At first, we thought that 1 serving is enough for  us and that we can't consume all if we order 2. But in the end, we just ordered 2 servings because we're really hungry that time. LOL

Their resto is very crowded. This just proves that they are very popular in Seoul. Here's the evidence. :)

Below is a picture of us waiting for our order. (Forced smiles of hungry tourists LOL)

I'll give you a short overview of Palsaik Samgyeopsal. It is a meal that consist's of pork belly meat in 8 different colors/flavors such as plain, wine, pine leaf, curry, red-pepper paste, herb, soybean paste, ginseng. These meats will be cooked in grill usually positioned at the center of the dining table. To eat this, you need to wrap the meat in a lettuce or perila (a mint herb) along with other side dishes like Ssamjang, Kimchi, etc. Ssamjang is a thick spicy paste in korean while Kimchi is a traditional korean side dish made of vegetables with variety of seasonings. It can be made of napa cabbage, radish, callion or cucumber.

(Yummy!)
You can watch the preparation video here.

(I'm enjoying wrapping the food)
(My friend trying to fit all in her mouth :D)

(Aftermath. hahaha Sorry!)
Overall review: We really love the food so much. The pork bellies that are marinated in different flavors are very delicious. At first we thought that their servings is too much to us. But at the end, we're laughing because we finished all the meats, side dishes and leave wrappers except for the Korean Mussel with soup. The Mussel is unpleasantly chewy, it's kind of leathery when you chew it out. But I like the taste of it's soup. I also love their Kimchi, it's very tasty and somewhat spicy. The taste is perfectly matched to the meats and perila/lettuce leaves. My four friends doesn't like it including it's smell, but for me and my one other friend - it's really appetizing. :)

We saw this chocolate store in front of the restaurant. Perfect for desserts. Their goodies are on sale that time. :)
I can't read their store name though :(
